Oh thanks G d I found it!

i was looking forward to it, and checked my email, and I saw nothing, so I thought, naturally, you're still working on it/taking a break

It's only now when I saw your Note(I usually don;t go on Notes except for restacking) I understood the essay is here; and somewhow never reached my email.

Thank you so much, Larisa- it's glorious. second everybody commenting

Thank you very much. You always give me too much credit. You know, I have books at home; I open them; I read, translate, and write. And this one is simpler than the others. It's my answer to one of my readers.

Oh dear, this made me sad for Lermontov (and Pushkin previously), all over again. Martynov - such a *small* character; and so terrible the way the social acceptance of duelling enabled him (and others like him), to hide behind it. (Also, minor detail, interested by L's scrofula (Dr. Johnson). Judging by the portrait, the treatment seems to have been successful?)

I am so glad that my essay about the Russian poet and painter found so much response. Thank you to all who didn't leave their names (?) for reading it.

How many great Russian artists, killed by petty squabbels, little men, pure cruelty. But they pursued their truth and art with a fiery, indomitable spirit, channeling the best part of the Demon.

Oh, David, how could I miss your comment? Of course, the more you read the poem, the better it sounds. Despite my primitive translation. Thank you.
